Letter R Week

Letter R Week

Our themes this week included Rabbits, Raccoons, Robots and Roosters.

The children wrote non-fiction facts about rabbits
and illustrated their writing.

We used rabbit manipulatives to work on addition facts
and complete fact families.

We created rabbits in the art center.

We used Runts for graphing and estimation.

We discussed Raccoons and read the book, The Kissing Hand,

 created storyboards,

and constructed art projects.

Our literacy center also featured Rockets and Robots.
We read, Roaring Rockets

and created Robots in our art center.

We also explored the book, Rooster's Off to See the World.

The children really enjoyed this story.

Our week was full of excitement and fun and we even
had time to celebrate our 100th day of school.

We love Kindergarten!
Next week letter K!

Movie Party

Movie Party!
I love the Movie Party!
The children love the Movie Party!
The parents love the Movie Party too!
Here's why!

The children make wallets with pretend money!

They purchase a ticket and enter the theater!

They carefully select a seat!

 and the movie begins.

When the children get hungry they take their wallets and visit the concession stand.

They can buy a hot dog!

They can buy a popcorn!

They can buy a icy cold beverage!

Did I mention they can buy CANDY?  Yup!  Candy!
REAL CANDY!  Oh boy, oh boy!

Sometimes the children are so excited, they spend all their money in one trip.
Others, buy one item at a time.
Decisions, decisions!

Our parents...I mean concession stand workers, make our Movie Party extra special.

It's so much fun.  I love my job!
(I told you I love the Movie Party!)
Do you love the Movie Party too?

Letter B Week

Letter B Week was a BLAST!
Our themes for the week were
Bears, Bubbles, Bees, Birthdays, Boys and Blueberries.

Our Literacy Center featured  the book Big Smelly Bear.

We acted out songs and fingerplays about bears.
We used gummy bears in the math center for
addition, measuring and graphing.

The class graphed their favorite gummy bear color.

We made bears out of pattern blocks.

In art we painted Big Bears

and Brown Bears With Buttons.

We talked about Boys!  These boys are blowing big bubbles!

Our literacy center also featured Bees.

We wrote nonfiction facts about bees

and created these Buzzing Bees.

We compared Bees and Bears.

We read Blueberries For Sal and discussed facts about the story.

We counted by twos,

painted with blueberries

and ate several delicious letter B snacks.
(We have the BEST parents!)

At the end of the week we celebrated Letter B with our Bear Birthday Bash!

We decorated birthday crowns and cupcakes.

We sang Happy Birthday and blew out the candles!
Then we ate our delicious snack.

We graphed what we liked best about our birthdays!

We decided we needed a class picture of our Bear Birthday Bash!
Doesn't this look like fun?
What a BLAST!

Next week we will talk about Letter R!
