Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

Our theme for the first week of school was 

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.

This week was filled with getting acquainted, 

learning the Kindergarten routine,

adjusting to a new environment and making new friends.

We read the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.

We explored and described coconuts.

We tasted coconut!

We counted, cut, glued and painted coconut trees.

We assembled and ate coconut trees.

We played!  

It was a perfect first week.

The new school year has begun.

On August 26th, 2013

we welcomed a brand new Kindie Class.

It is going to be a wonderful year.

The week was filled with getting acquainted, 

learning the Kindergarten routine, adjusting

to a new environment and making new friends.

We read the book, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

and explored coconuts.

We used our five senses to describe coconuts.

We played in the sensory table and used tongs to hunt

for letters and coconuts.

We created coconut trees using various art forms.

On Friday we used edible materials and made a delicious snack.

It was a perfect first week!

We love Kindergarten!

Wow!  What a great first week of school!  

We are getting to know each other and learning the Kindie routine.  

It's been busy, noisy and a lot of fun.

Here are some of the highlights from the first week!

We were delighted to see "old friends".

We held the guinea pig and he didn't bite anyone!

We work on the Daily Five every day!

We did lots of "hands on" activities. 

We worked hard and played hard!

We talked about our goals for the year!

We welcomed new friends to our school!

We discussed our Kindie Mission Statement!

We played outside!

We got really sweaty and hot!

We gave the first day a "thumbs up".

We smiled a lot and gave lots of hugs!
